A Look Back with Luke Lemberg
September 15, 2014 / Events
The Green Briar is turning 25 years old on Friday!
General Manager Luke Lemberg shares his memories with us in preparation for the party!
How long have you been working at The Green Briar? The better part of 6 years since September 2008.
What’s the best part about working at the Green Briar? It’s so cliché, but it never feels like work! I know everyone there and we get to see the same guests over and over – the people are the best part. It’s great getting to know the new people coming in.
What is your go-to meal? Fish and Chips and Shepherd’s Pie – gotta go with the classics, and I go with what I like. I’m a simple man, what you see is what you get.
What is the best piece of advice that your mentor Joe Fenton has given you? “It’s easy to talk to your friends when they come in, always strive to make the effort to talk to new faces.”
What will you be drinking at the 25th Anniversary Party? That all depends on the arrival of my 3rd daughter, any day now! Probably Coors Light.
Tell us an embarrassing story. That time I thought “Irish Seisiun” was a type of Asian Fusion food served on Monday nights.
Most memorable shift? The afternoon of April 19, 2013 – once we opened and the shelter in place was lifted and the bomber was caught in Watertown – we filled up and the whole bar was just happy to be with each other and in Boston – it was a very cool feel and a nice change from the recent sad times.
Anything else you want to say? The Green Briar is now a historical part of Brighton – Congrats to all past, present and future employees. I hope it’s a part of the Brighton landscape for years to come.
