Prominent Instagram Influencer Dines at City Table

August 01, 2018

Social media is no longer an option when it comes to promoting your brand—it’s a necessity. Although this technological phenomenon has placed pressure on the restaurant industry to strengthen their online presence, it has created the age of influencers.

Self-proclaimed ‘foodies’ (social media users dedicated to aesthetically-pleasing food accounts) are an international sensation. Some of them have even gained fame through their social media presence, amassing thousands of followers and hundreds of likes.

Naturally, influencers have become an integral part of social media marketing for the restaurant industry. Businesses promote their food and overall brand through them, gaining access to an enormous amount of people through the touch of a button. Influencers allow restaurants to gain recognition and increase brand awareness more quickly, personally, and organically than by other means.

City Table, in the heart of Back Bay, recently collaborated with a top food influencer in the Boston area known by the Instagram handle, @AccountingforTaste. With over 30,000 followers in the Boston area, he samples dishes from a variety of restaurants in Boston and shares his opinion with his followers. From burgers to brunch, there isn’t a type of food that this foodie hasn’t tasted. His followers not only enjoy his reviews, but his eye-catching photos as well—each photo typically receives over 500 likes!

When @accountingfortaste dined with us at City Table, he began his experience with champagne, some Island Creek oysters, and Ahi tuna cones topped with caviar and crème fraîche. He remarks, “you can’t get a more luxurious start to a meal,” and he’s right! Nothing says indulgence like Veuve Clicquot and a dozen briny bivalves. His post featuring these dishes received over 700 likes and 26 comments from his fans.

Next up, the entrée. He opted for the pork belly porchetta, which is served with risotto Milanese and grilled asparagus, and finished with a roasted mushroom demi-glaze. He had high praise for the dish: “unreal pork belly porchetta… super moist, melt in your mouth meat that contrasted perfectly with the crispiest skin possible. Exactly what pork belly should be.” Receiving over 1,151 likes and 300 comments, this post gained a lot of traction with his 30,000 followers.
