The Stomachs Have Spoken and the Chili Cup Champion is...
February 26, 2014
If you missed the 5th Annual Boston Chili Cup last week at Ned Devine’s Irish Pub you missed out on some delicious chili! Contestants this year blew past your everyday, traditional beef chili – and brought just about every other meat imaginable – from chicken and turkey, to boar and goat – to the table!
Twenty four local restaurants participated in this year’s competition to benefit Community Work Services, an organization that helps adults transform their lives through effective job training, placement and support services that lead to greater economic self-sufficiency and advancement. Community Work Services didn’t just sit back and watch the fun; they competed alongside Boston’s finest with their own delicious submission of Reindeer Sausage Chili.
Aside from copious amounts of chili, the event featured live music from Ryan Brooks Kelly, the unseasonably appropriate CoronaRita – Corona + Margarita on a 50 something day in February! – and a raffle with fantastic prizes to benefit Community Work Services.
Once the chili was sampled and the votes were in, our Chili Cup Champion was announced: Bambara led by Chef Jay! Their Sirloin and Pork Chili topped with a little cornbread muffin (Yum and yum!) came out on top! Post 390 with a surprisingly sweet chili that had everyone’s mind boggled was a close second.
The Chili Cup would not have been what it was without our fantastic sponsors: Faneuil Hall Marketplace , Ned Devine’s Irish Pub, Corona Extra, Jose Cuervo, NSK Inc., Sysco, TriMark United East and Peterson Party Center. And of course, all the fantastic restaurants who brought their A-game for a wonderful cause!
